Girls Night In with The Blogger Union

Sponsored by The Blogger Union

Happy Sunday! Hope everyone’s having a good weekend and good start to spring 2021!

On Thursday night I hosted a few friends over for bourbon and fondue night and I wanted to share the recipes to the DELICIOUS fondue made with Di Bruno Bros cheese, a little white wine and Cooper’s Craft Kentucky Straight Bourbon too, shh don’t tell!

And you all know I love me some whiskey! I’m a big fan of bourbon cocktails like old fashioneds and anything with ginger beer, so I used the Cooper’s Craft Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey to make a delicious Kentucky Mule to pair with my fondue and chef’s kiss, it was so yummy!

Now for the recipes! Here’s how I made the fondue, thanks to the super cute Di Bruno Bros cheese and meat box that showed up on my doorstep!

What you’ll need:

  • 1/2 lb of Reading Raclette cheese
  • 1/2 lb of Seven Sisters cheese
  • 1/2 lb of Cabot Cloth Bound Cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp of cornstarch
  • 1 cup dry white wine (Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay)
  • 1/2 Cooper’s Craft Kentucky Straight Bourbon
  • A few drops of pickle juice
  • 1 tsp of dijon mustard
  • Black pepper

Lets Make Fondue!

First shred ALL the cheese and while you do that start warming up the wine in the fondue pot. The key is to make sure the wine is really really hot before you add the cheese. I have this fondue set, thank you Punch Media!

In a medium bowl lightly coat the cheese with the cornstarch.

Carefully add the bourbon to the wine and drop in a little pickle juice, I know gross, but necessary!

Stir in the cheese a few handfuls at a time and continuously stir. Besides the shredding this is the most tedious part, and when we made the mules!

Once the cheese is smooth stir in the dijon mustard and black pepper!

To enjoy, let’s make a charcuterie board! I had 2 green apples chopped into cubes, French bread sliced up, crostini, salami, cauliflower and prosciutto! You can do carrots, broccoli and any other veggies you want to dip in to the fondue!

Now for the Kentucky Mules!

What you’ll need (Serving Size 1 Mule):

  • 2 1/2 ounces of Cooper’s Craft Kentucky Straight Bourbon (if you don’t like a strong drink only do 1 1/2 ounces)
  • 1/2 an ounce of fresh lime juice, or the juice of one lime
  • Ginger Beer, I like Fever Tree or Bundaberg
  • A lime wedge for garnish
  • Mint leaves for garnish

Let’s shake it up!

In a chilled cocktail shaker mix ice, the bourbon and lime juice for a few seconds. Pour into a chilled highball glass or mule mug and top with ginger beer (as desired). Garnish with a few mint leaves and a lime wedge.

Cheers!

Making these was so much fun and good company with lots of laughs, amazing music and a few extra food items was the perfect way to destress after a long few weeks! If you try these recipes let me know!

Happy Girls Night (or Date Night!), thanks for reading!
