My Guide to Boston

Happy Monday friends!!!

I’ve been meaning to write this post for months but I kept forgetting, even though I did create a highlight on IG showing you my 3 day weekend visiting Boston, MA! Check it out here.

If you read my most recent life update post, here, you know I was going through the worst few weeks of my life back in February and I booked a quick trip to Boston to visit a friend just to get away from it all. I ended up going on the trip once things had gotten better just because my roommate had moved out and took all the negativity with her. My life did a 180 but the trip was still a really good break for me and I’m thankful I booked the trip in the middle of a meltdown a few weeks prior.

Any excuse to break out the leather leggings and this coat is fine by me!

I digress but it was my first time visiting New England and while it was a short trip I got to see a lot of the city, pretty much everything I could as the city is still pretty locked down. Masks everywhere, including to walk down the street and everything closed at 10. You needed a reservation for almost everything and 90 minute max at a table for any meal. It was still a lot of fun, we made the most of it!

Unfortunately I stayed with my friend at her apartment near Boston University so I don’t have recs on hotels or where to stay but I got you on everything else!

I flew in early Thursday morning before classes and did my first class from her apartment. Since she lives close to Fenway Park we had a lunch time stroll down to the ballpark and around the area. For lunch we went to Tatte (get the fig and prosciutto panini!!!) and then after finishing our afternoon classes we crossed the river to Cambridge and walked to Harvard to really get our steps in. I got to see so much of the city this way and I highly recommend walking everywhere in Boston!

The city is so accessible by foot it’s insane and the mix of old, colonial architecture and modern structures is so cool! We ubered back to shower and get ready for dinner at Carmelina’s in the North End aka Little Italy. I 100% recommend this restaurant, it’s tiny but delicious! Stroll down the neighborhood to take in the smells and little cafes and family owned businesses. We went home soon after since it was close to 10 and had a dance party before bed.

On Friday morning we slept in walked to Back Bay to explore the neighborhood and we window shopped along the way! We went to Pavement for a cafe lunch and checked out the Copley Place Mall and the Prudential Center. For a late lunch we went to Saltie Girl for New England seafood and walked the Freedom Trail!

The walking tour takes you all across downtown Boston and is truly the best way to see it all on foot! As a history nerd it was incredible to see some of the most important places in colonial American history and the juxtaposition of new and old buildings.

We ended our day time excursions at the Boston Phblic Market for apple cider donuts (YUM) and then ubered back to shower and get ready for dinner.

For dinner we had reservations at Barcelona Wine Bar, a chain but a definite must wherever there’s one near you! The charcuterie was delicious, I loved the vibe of the restaurant and the wine was so good! Get the olive oil cake for dessert too, you’ll be so happy you did!

For our night cap after our dance party we went to a post game at a friends house and played drinking games and danced and just had the best time! It kinda sucks that everything closes at 10pm because it’s so early still but because of the hangout we stayed up till 4am and honestly being social was SO needed, it was worth it.

Acorn Street

On Saturday, my last day in Boston we walked to Beacon Hill and had breakfast at Tatte again and then walked down Acorn Street, the most famous street in Boston! Then we walked back to Union Street for lunch at Union Oyster House, the oldest resultant in the US! Such a cool spot and I definitely recommend checking it out!

Since it was my last night we stopped at Boston Public Market for apple cider before Ubering back to get ready for dinner. We had drinks at RumBa in the Intercontinental and then crossed the bridge to Seaport for dinner at Lookout Rooftop!

Had an early flight Sunday morning back to school so that was it, a short but jam packed weekend with a friend from home exploring a new city. I got to experience New England, although not at its finest, I need to go again in the Fall, and see really cool, historic places as well as check out some really cute bars and restaurants!

Over all a great trip! I hope if you go to Boston soon these recommendations help you plan your trip, thanks for reading!
