My Law School Morning Routine in 2021

Happy Hump Day!! How is everyone’s first week of school going?

I wanted to take a minute to share my updated morning routine now that I’m back in Knoxville and classes have begun! I shared my schedule in my latest post so you can see a broad overview of my week but to recap, I start class at 10:30 Monday – Thursday and go until about 4, except Tuesdays I go til 6.

In between I read for class, get some work done and do a little content creation and save Thursdays and Fridays for research before kicking off the weekend, ideally around 5-6pm!

To get my day going on a good note, I try to wake up around 7 am, 7:15 if I need a snooze. The first thing I do when I wake up is make my bed, open the blinds and turn on the lights. After a quick bathroom break where I take my vitamins, brush my teeth and wash my face, I’ll do a quick coffee and ice roll my face while I drink it, grab a water and change for my mini workout.

My goal is to get a 30-45 minute workout in about 3 or 4 days a week to be active and move my body. My plan is 2 days of 12-3-30 by Lauren Giraldo or weights at my apartment mini gym and 2 or 3 days of yoga/stretching/pilates in my room. I also walk a bit from the parking garage to the law school building which helps!

After a workout, I’ll jump in the shower and start to get ready, see my 5 min everyday makeup routine on my IG here! I like to do my makeup before getting dressed because I tend to make a mess so after I finish makeup and fix my hair (aka maybe a low pony or shake out my loose waves), I’ll get dressed and head to the kitchen make breakfast.

While I do my morning routine and workout I like to put on a podcast or music. I have my fave podcasts in my highlights on IG but a few are The Skinny Confidential, The Real Reel (by my boss & friend Natalie Barbu), Life with Marianna, Friend of a Friend, Unwineding with my girl Lisa Gilmore and The Blonde Files! Be sure to check out my highlights so see what I’m currently loving , it chances often, but these are my go tos!

For an outfit, I like to do a pair of jeans, comfy sandals, boots or flats and a blouse or nicer t-shirt, sweater or tank with cardigan on my nice days and on my comfy days I’ll do leggings, sneakers and a long sweatshirt or tank with long jacket. I like to go for smart chic or comfy but put together, so I’ll do my makeup or hair on most days I go with leggings to try to look nice still, you never know who you’ll run into on campus.

By now its probably around 9-9:30. For breakfast I like an oatmeal bowl, a protein smoothie or eggs with spinach and feta cheese, just depending on how hungry I am.

After putting my dishes in the dishwasher and grabbing my bag, I’m out the door and off to class!
