3L

Kicking off 3L Year

I just need someone to pinch me really fast… tomorrow is my first day of my 3L year.

WHAT, HOW? Also HALLELUJAH

I moved back up to Knoxville on Friday and the last few days have been all about cleaning, organizing, getting all my school stuff prepped aka buying books, supplies and stocking up on food for healthy meals and snacking and ordering any desk supplies I need. I ordered a new mouse pad and laptop case to match my new school/work bag from Beis that I’m obsessed with! I also redecorated my room a bit to simplify it and make it more neutral like my bedroom at home and now that I have a new roommate, we’re working on decorating our living room.

It feels weird to be back in Knox after a summer at home that was pretty much back to normal, when here we wear masks in classes and throughout the building and I’m back in person full time 4 days a week. We’ll get to that in a second but I wanted to recap my summer for you really quick.

I worked full time at a law firm in person mid May to July and the last two weeks of my summer I spent studying for the MPRE which I recapped here yesterday. In between working, I attended Miami Swim Week, hung out with friends and made new friends through IG, spent a few weekends at the beach in Marco Island and went to the Bahamas for a few days. I also got a new job working as an influencer marketing coordinator with a new friend at her agency, Rella, which I am SO excited about! I’ll be working with her part time while I go to school and I am really looking forward to pursing a career in social media more and combining my law degree with my passion for content creation and social media marketing!

Now BACK TO SCHOOL!

I’m taking 4 classes this semester, so 11 credits and doing a 2 credit independent study with my favorite professor and a 1 credit directed research with him to satisfy my expository requirement (my school requires a paper in order to graduate) so I’ll be doing lots of research! My topic is how social media has impacted the legal industry and in my research I want to focus on the impact on law firms and how they market, technology and also create a resource for lawyers wanting to enter the social media marketing field!

It goes along with my part time job and also my class schedule is tailored to help in my research and my interests, which is really exciting, its the first time in law school I’ve truly been able to do that! Here’s my schedule:

I’m really thankful that I have chunks of time in between to get my readings done and socialize at school so nights and weekends are for blog and part time work and my Thursdays and Fridays are primarily for research and writing my paper. I also like to get work and blog/ig content done in between everything when inspiration strikes or I have 5 minutes to answer an email and I love that my job is pretty flexible with timing as long as I get my to do list done. I’m a BIG to do list girl and I love having the freedom to structure my days how I want and how I feel most productive.

In addition to classes, research and work I am pretty involved on campus this year as LLSA President, Head Barbri Rep and a member of our Student Wellness Committee, dedicated to addressing mental health in our community and providing resources. I also mentor 3 law students and one high school student through Centro Hispano. Plus I try to have an active social life when time and energy permits! I am very busy but personally I do best with a full plate as long as I can plan out my days and weeks, which I’m very lucky to be able to do.

I’m off to go answer some questions on IG and get some TV time in before bed, I want to get back into working out as a part of my morning routine, so lets see how that goes tomorrow!

If you have any questions on my schedule, law school graduation requirements or law school and work life balance and more, follow me on IG and lets chat or leave them down below for a future Law School Q+A post!

Thanks for reading!
